The Mystery of  Abnormal Psychology

The Center for American Studies would like to invite you to participate in a course with an experienced American psychologist, Dr. Jutta Street, titled “The Mystery of Abnormal Psychology”.

 

This course will expose you to all major categories of psychological disorders in adults and children. 

 

You will learn the terminology, classification, symptoms, etiology, assessment, and treatment of the major disorders. 

 

You will also study the theoretical, clinical, and experimental perspectives on psychopathology.

The course takes place on Thursday, October 25, 2024 on the intuitive Zoom platform.

You will learn:

• to distinguish the characteristics of the major psychological disorders in adults and children.

• to understand the theoretical backgrounds and practical applications of various treatment approaches for psychological disorders.

• to identify recent developments and controversies in the field of abnormal psychology.

• to examine claims about the causes or treatments of disorders various disorders.

Jutta Street

Dr. Jutta Street has been a full-time professor in the Department of Psychology at Campbell University since 2007. Throughout her career, she has taught a wide variety of courses at various institutions.Most recently, those have included Developmental Psychology, Psychological Assessment, Abnormal Psychology, Biological Psychology, History of Psychology, Research Methods, and Advanced Research. Since 2012, Dr. Street has developed and led several Study Abroad programs at various locations in Europe where she visited many important sites (including sites related to the history of psychology as a science).

Dr. Jutta Street was born in Germany and came to the United States in 1972. She studied English and obtained her B.A. in English Language and Literature and her Secondary English Teaching certification from the University of Pembroke in 1978. After teaching high school English for one year, she returned to graduate school to study psychology, got her Master’s Degree, and then defended her Ph.D. dissertation. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.

All of our courses are certified. 

Upon the completion of the course, you will be awarded an official digital certificate signed by the CFAS President and Director of Academic Affairs. You may then print the certificate​ at home, use it to apply for various academic positions, or simply post it to your LinkedIn or other professional channels​.

The certificate shows the number of hours so you may use it to satisfy your Continuing Education requirements as well.
