Join the Center for American Studies course with an experienced American psychologist, Prof. Laura Lunsford titled “From Chaos to Control: Destructive Leadership” and learn how to spot and combat destructive leaders and managers.
The course takes place on Thursday, September 27, 2024 on the intuitive Zoom platform.
At the end of the course you will be able to:Â
- Define destructive leadership.
- Understand how the toxic triangle model works in practice.
- Identify personality markers of destructive leaders and managers.
- Describe the two types of susceptible followers: conformers and colluders.
- Compare and contrast the elements of conducive environments that are associated with destructive leadership.Â
- Defend yourself against destructive leaders/managers and help their victims.
Laura Lunsford
Laura Gail Lunsford, Ph.D. is a US Fulbright Scholar in Germany and professor of psychology and social work in the School of Education and Human Sciences at Campbell University.
Prof. Lunsford was a tenured associate professor at the University of Arizona and has held numerous administrative director level roles the Swain Center for executive education in the Cameron School of Business at UNC Wilmington; at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business; and the Park Scholarships at NC State. Prof. Lunsford has published over 50 peer reviewed articles, chapters, and books on leadership and mentoring, including the definitive “Mentors’ Guide: Five Steps to Build a Successful Mentor Program” now in its 2nd edition and the 2nd edition of the textbook “Leadership: Leaders, Followers, Environments”.
She has presented her work at conferences held by the International Leadership Association, the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, American Psychological Association, Association for Psychological Science, American Educational Research Association, among others. The National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) appointed her to a consensus committee on effective mentoring in STEMM. In 2009 she was honored with the International Mentoring Association’s Dissertation Award.
