Academic Writing | Course with a U.S. professor

The Center for American Studies would like to invite you to participate in an intense certified weekend course with a world-class American scholar, professor prof. Ron Lunsford (alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), titled "Academic Writing Made Easy".

It's a well-known fact that the most important skill of every academic is his or her ability to effectively communicate scholarly ideas through writing (e.g., books, chapters in monographs, journal articles).

Our course will teach you how to master the art of academic writing in English covering grammar, sentence-building, and style as well as explaining most common mistakes and ways of avoiding them – all using concrete examples.

The course will be held on Friday (December 13) and Saturday (December 14), 2024 on Zoom.

Professor Ron Lunsford will be connecting with us in real time from the United States so you will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Because the course is led by an open-minded interdisciplinary American scholar – Prof. Ron Lunsford – which is a guarantee of the course being ideal to all academics, regardless of discipline.

Moreover, the course is synchronous. Contact in real time and an opportunity to ask questions will allow you to resolve any doubts that may arise.

You will develop an understanding of Academic English grammar, including, but not limited to: cases, proper usage of articles, moods, tense agreement, how to avoid the passive voice, adverbial and adjectival phrases, subordinate and main clauses, countable and uncountable nouns.

In other words, you will learn how to write more convincingly and confidently as an academic.
