Academic Writing Made Easy | Course with a British professor

The Center for American Studies would like to invite you to participate in an intense certified weekend course titled "Academic Writing Made Easy" with a world-class British scholar, professor John Morley (Professor at the University of Manchester, creator of the world-famous Academic Phrasebank https://www.phrasebank.manchester.ac.uk/)

It's a well-known fact that the most important skill of every academic is his or her ability to effectively communicate scholarly ideas through writing (e.g., books, chapters in monographs, journal articles).

Our course will teach you how to master the art of academic writing in English covering grammar, sentence-building, and style, as well as explaining the most common mistakes and ways of avoiding them – all using concrete examples.

The course will be held on April 24 (Friday) and April 25 (Friday), 2026 on Zoom. Exact hours are provided below.

Professor John Morley will be connecting with us in real time from the Great Britain so you will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Because the course is led by an open-minded interdisciplinary British scholar – Prof. John Morley – which is a guarantee of the course being ideal to all academics, regardless of discipline.

Moreover, the course is synchronous. Contact in real time and an opportunity to ask questions will allow you to resolve any doubts that may arise.

You will develop an understanding of Academic English grammar, including, but not limited to: cases, proper usage of articles, moods, tense agreement, how to avoid the passive voice, adverbial and adjectival phrases, subordinate and main clauses, countable and uncountable nouns.

In other words, you will learn how to write more convincingly and confidently as an academic.
